I like to think that I’ve done a significant amount of growing up since entering college. High School gave me this high sense of meaning that I hadn’t quite understood until I truly experienced freedom and what my parents had always called “The real world”. What was the real world? A trashy reality TV show? A wicked corrupted place? The story where the good guy always ended up losing? Yes. I also found out something else. The real world consisted of people, who were the same and yet very different. They repeated their ideas and plans for a hopeful future, they pushed for a new age of reason and understanding while knocking down the ideas of those who disagree with them.
I don’t understand the world. The majority of people would like to say they love all people regardless of color, race, gender, sexual orientation or whatever. The minute someone mentions something they disagree with though, everyone freaks out. “I hate Republicans, I hate Christians, I hate conservatives.” I hate people who are hypocrites. Seriously, if you disagree with something, speak your mind, but also respect their opinion. I understand it’s easy to be disgusted with someone’s perspectives because they’re different from yours, but they may have various reasons for that view. Hate is a strong word and the minute you silence someone else’s opinion because you disagree with it (majority or minority) you’re being ignorant.
Don’t be a hypocrite.
